Students at Delhi District Secondary School are putting the final touches on their winter theatre production, Radium Girls.
The historical drama tells the true story of young women in the 1920s who painted glowing watch dials and were later poisoned by radium. The play follows Grace Fryer as she fights her former employer, the U.S. Radium Corporation, exposing corporate greed, scientific ethics, and the early struggle for workers’ rights. Despite being set a century ago, the themes remain timely in 2026.
DDSS Drama returns this year with an ambitious and emotionally demanding production. The fast-paced script features sharp dialogue, intense exchanges, and moments of hurt and betrayal. With many senior drama students graduating last year, this production represents a big step for a young troupe that includes several performers new to the stage.
The show runs January 16 at 7 p.m. and January 17 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., with doors opening 30 minutes early. Tickets are $10, or $5 for students. Early rehearsals suggest the young cast is rising to the challenge with commitment.
