Members of the Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police continue to investigate after a shelter in place was issued in Simcoe on Saturday afternoon and evening.
Police say officers were called to a Kent Street North address at about 12:58 p.m. on January 10, following a 9-1-1 call reporting a weapons complaint where a firearm was suspected to have been discharged.
As a precaution, a shelter in place was ordered for nearby residents. The Ontario Provincial Police Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team, Canine Services, and Crisis Negotiators assisted with the investigation.
Kent Street North was closed between Union Street and Young Street while officers worked at the scene.
At 7:54 p.m., the shelter in place was lifted for residents. Police confirm two people were taken into custody in connection with the incident and no injuries were reported.
Officers thank residents for their patience and cooperation as the investigation continues.
