An individual is facing multiple charges following a report of suspicious activity in Haldimand County.
Ontario Provincial Police say officers from the Haldimand detachment were called to the area of Maple Street in Dunnville at approximately 1:00 a.m. on January 8, after receiving a report of a suspicious person attempting to enter vehicles.
Police responded to the area and located the individual, who was taken into custody without incident.
Following an investigation, officers allege the individual was involved in attempted vehicle entries and was found in possession of property believed to be obtained through criminal activity.
As a result, charges were laid including theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and failure to comply with a release order.
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga.
Police are reminding residents to report suspicious activity immediately and to take steps to reduce the risk of theft, including locking vehicles and removing valuables from sight.
Anyone who witnesses suspicious behaviour is encouraged to contact police as soon as possible.
