One person is in custody after Ontario Provincial Police executed a Criminal Code Search Warrant at a home on McDowell Road in Simcoe.
On December 4, 2025, members of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit and the Haldimand Norfolk Community Street Crime Unit searched the property. Officers seized more than $15,000 in prohibited weapons, replica firearms, stolen property, Canadian currency, suspected illicit drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Police say the search warrant was part of an ongoing investigation into weapons and drug-related activity in Norfolk County.
As a result, 29-year-old Dalton Chanyi of Simcoe has been charged with multiple offences, including possession of weapons for a dangerous purpose, possession of property obtained by crime, trafficking in stolen property and possession of Schedule I substances for the purpose of trafficking. He also faces charges for disobeying a court order and failing to comply with a release order.
Chanyi remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Simcoe on December 9, 2025.
