Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) invoked its mandate last week after an injured individual was found during a missing person search in Lowbanks.
The discovery happened around 3 p.m. on December 5, when members of the OPP’s Haldimand Detachment and the West Region Emergency Response Team located the person inside a vehicle.
The individual was transported to hospital for treatment, prompting the SIU to take over the case due to the involvement of police in the circumstances leading up to the injuries.
With the SIU assuming control, the OPP stated it could not release further information, directing all inquiries to SIU Communications while the investigation continued.
