The Cancer Support and Resource Program (CSRP) has received a major boost thanks to 100 Women Who Care Norfolk, securing $18,700 at the group’s November meeting.
The CSRP provides emotional, financial, and practical support for individuals and families touched by cancer, operating entirely on donations.
The organization works closely with government and community agencies to offer assistance ranging from grocery and gas cards to help with prescription costs, utility bills, medical equipment, and travel expenses for hospital visits.
Depending on need, individuals may receive up to $1,000, couples up to $1,250, and families up to $1,500.
In 2025 alone, more than $16,000 has been distributed to Norfolk County cancer patients.
Beyond financial help, the CSRP runs three support groups—one in Port Dover and two in Simcoe—offering programs that include social outings, mini vacations, and summer camp support for families.
Each year, the program also hosts a free movie night at the Strand Theatre for families affected by cancer.
The organization says the donation ensures continued financial security for its services and allows them to expand support for local residents navigating cancer care.
