In November, we spoke about the Haldimand-Norfolk Concert Band’s upcoming Christmas concert series.
During our conversation with Patricia Misner, she mentioned that the band is currently looking for some additional percussion support.
That opened the door to a broader discussion — specifically, an open invite to anyone who plays an instrument to consider dusting it off and putting their hobby back in the spotlight.
The band welcomes musicians of all ages, with members ranging from teenagers to players well into their 80s.
She adds that if you’re a little rusty, that’s perfectly fine.
No one expects you to walk in as a musical prodigy — all they ask is that you know how to play your instrument and that you already have your own instrument at home.
The band practices once a week at 7:15 p.m. on Thursdays at Hagersville Public School. They take a break during the summer months.
When it comes to performances, they aim to stay active in the community while keeping their schedule manageable.
