The Woodland Cultural Centre is calling on the community to help make a difference this GivingTuesday, December 2, as it launches its “Honouring the Past, Investing in the Future” fundraiser. The goal is to raise $20,000 to support the Centre’s work in protecting and sharing Hodinohsho:ni language, culture, art, and history.
For more than 50 years, the Centre has served as a vital place for learning, cultural preservation, and healing. Its recent opening of the former Mohawk Institute Residential School as an interpreted historic site marks a major step forward in truth and reconciliation, but it has also increased operational costs.
To boost the campaign, The Dufresne-Ray Family Fund at Hamilton Community Foundation will match the first $5,000 donated on GivingTuesday.
Funds raised will support language and cultural preservation, educational programs, Indigenous artists, and the continued care of the Mohawk Institute Site of Conscience.
The Centre encourages people to donate, spread the word, and learn more about its work to ensure Indigenous stories and culture continue to thrive.
