A Norfolk County resident has been charged with public intoxication following an incident in downtown Simcoe late Friday night.
On November 21, 2025, shortly before midnight, an OPP officer on patrol noticed an individual acting in a concerning manner near Norfolk Street South and Peel Street.
After speaking with the person, police determined they were intoxicated and took them into custody without incident.
A 44-year-old Norfolk County resident is now charged with Being intoxicated in a public place under the Liquor Licence and Control Act.
Police are reminding the public that becoming intoxicated in areas open to the public — including sidewalks, parks, building entrances, and shared residential spaces — is illegal and can lead to charges.
