Norfolk County is preparing for another major year of infrastructure investment after the Budget Committee officially adopted the 2026 Levy Capital Budget.
The decision, made during the Nov. 20 meeting, outlines $69.4 million in capital spending across roads, bridges, stormwater systems, facilities, fleet, and parks.
Final approval will come before full Council on Nov. 25, but the newly adopted plan already highlights several major projects residents will see in the year ahead.
Among the most significant investments are $5 million for the reconstruction of Leamon Street in Waterford, $3.5 million for resurfacing McDowell Road between Langton and Simcoe, and $2.8 million each for rehabilitation work on the Big Creek 5th and 6th Concession bridges in South Walsingham and for new fire trucks in Port Dover and Fairground Stations.
County staff noted that no debt financing is recommended for the 2026 capital program, a decision that maintains financial stability while still advancing high-priority infrastructure needs.
The capital plan contributes to a 2.5% impact on the net levy requirement, which residents will see reflected when the Draft Levy Operating Budget is presented in January.
With infrastructure renewal continuing to be a county-wide priority, the 2026 budget positions Norfolk for safer roads, stronger emergency services, and updated public assets across the community.
