A 53-year-old York man is facing multiple criminal charges after an Automated Licence Plate Reader (ALPR) alerted police to a traffic infraction on Indiana Road in Haldimand County.
On Sunday night, police attempted to pull over the vehicle, but the man fled from officers, prompting a brief search before he was taken into custody.
He has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle, flight from a peace officer, operating while prohibited, and several other driving-related offences, including driving with a child passenger improperly secured and using unauthorized license plates.
The Haldimand OPP emphasized the role of technology like ALPR in enhancing road safety and tracking dangerous drivers.
