Norfolk General Hospital saw a brief power outage yesterday (Tuesday) that affected parts of the facility.
The hospital entered a Code Grey in the morning, after a transfer switch failed during a routine generator test, resulting in a partial loss of power for about 40 minutes.
Despite the disruption, the Emergency Department remained open, and all patient care services continued without interruption.
Hospital officials say patient safety remained the top priority throughout the outage.
Power and all affected systems have since been fully restored.
Norfolk General Hospital extended thanks to its Information Technology and Maintenance teams for their quick response, and to staff, physicians, patients, and community members for their patience during the incident.
