Norfolk County Council has confirmed that municipal-funded curbside recycling services for industrial, commercial, and institutional properties will end after 2025.
The decision aligns with Ontario’s new producer-led Blue Box program, which limits curbside recycling to residential properties.
This change affects non-residential properties such as businesses, daycares, churches, and campgrounds.
While County-owned facilities are also not eligible for residential recycling collection, Council has approved continued funding to maintain recycling at municipal buildings, arenas, and community centres.
County staff will provide communication to affected properties to help them prepare for the transition by January 2026.
Garbage collection will continue as normal, and beginning in September 2026, Norfolk County will introduce a cart-based collection system with green bins for organic waste.
