Norfolk County officials are clarifying recent public confusion and online discussion about a proposed municipal boundary adjustment that would see the Norfolk Mall property at 400 Simcoe Street, Tillsonburg, incorporated into the Town of Tillsonburg.
In a statement released Monday, the County confirmed that no discussions or negotiations are underway regarding any municipal boundary changes.
Council and staff emphasized that any adjustment to municipal boundaries requires agreement between both willing municipalities and would typically include financial compensation for the jurisdiction relinquishing land.
Norfolk County further noted that no such conversations have taken place with neighbouring municipalities and that residents can be assured no boundary changes are currently being considered.
Officials are encouraging residents to engage in informed, fact-based discussion about municipal governance, including the benefits of the County’s single-tier government structure.
