The popular Simcoe Fair Trade Sale is back with new dates, new community partnerships, and the same global mission to connect local shoppers with artisans from around the world.
Formerly known as Ten Thousand Villages, the idea is still the same.
That was Gordon Potts, head of publicity with the sale.
These are items you will not be finding at any big box store, making them unique items for yourself or as a creative gift for someone you care about.
These one of a kind finds keep the crowds coming back year after year.
This year’s sale will be held a bit earlier than normal.
It takes place Friday, October 31, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, November 1, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at First Baptist Church in Simcoe, next to Talbot Arena.
Potts said with the change comes a chance to have some fun.
All items ethically sourced and fairly traded through the Mennonite Central Committee’s (MCC) Ten Thousand Villages program.
Beyond its global reach, the event is also supporting local causes.
Ten percent of sale proceeds help cover event costs, while this year’s remaining funds will support the Haldimand-Norfolk Community Hub, a new organization providing connection and support services in downtown Simcoe.
Attendees can also make cash donations at checkout to increase the contribution.
Fair trade supporters can also order items online in advance at villagescobourg.ca for free pickup at the Simcoe event.
