Blue Jay fever has officially hit southwestern Ontario, with new data showing local fans glued to their screens as the team continues its American League Championship Series (ALCS) push.
A recent study from Vividata revealed that Blue Jays supporters are among the oldest in professional sports, with an average fan age of 51. Jays fans arn’t casual fans either. The survey noted that over 75% of Blue Jays fans follow roughly half the games each season. This makes them them one of the most engaged fandoms in the MLB.
Locally, Execulink’s data backs up the surge in excitement. The company reports Sportsnet viewership jumped 37% in October compared to September. Each of the four American League Championship Series games so far—beginning October 12—has been the most-watched program of the day on their network.
The ALCS continues Sunday at 8:03 p.m. ET as the Toronto Blue Jays host the Seattle Mariners at Rogers Centre. Seattle can clinch a World Series berth with a win, while Toronto looks to force a decisive Game 7.
