The Ontario Provincial Police have discovered human remains in a wooded area off Highway 6 in Haldimand County, which they believe is connected to an ongoing homicide investigation in Simcoe.
According to investigators, the remains were located around 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, in a wooded area west of Caledonia and south of Stirling Street.
The Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OFPS) will conduct a postmortem examination on Friday to confirm the person’s identity and determine the cause of death.
Police are asking anyone who was in the area of Highway 6, west of Caledonia and south of Stirling Street, between 10:30 p.m. and midnight on Sunday, October 5, to contact them if they noticed any suspicious activity.
Investigators are also appealing to anyone with dashcam footage from that time to come forward, emphasizing that even small details could assist the case.
A police presence will remain in the area as the investigation continues.
