The Delhi Legion Branch 125 is set to host the 4th Annual Joanne Robbins Memorial Dart Tournament on Saturday, October 18, celebrating the life and community spirit of longtime member Joanne Robbins.
Robbins, a beloved Legion treasurer and Ladies Auxiliary member for a decade, was also a passionate dart player who competed in senior leagues.
That was Joanne’s daughter, Teresa Antoszek, who organizes the annual tournament in her mother’s memory. Joanne’s love of darts lead her to try and get a youth dart night off the ground.
Antoszek informed us that the event supports the Legion’s dart leagues among other things.
The day features mixed teams of two men and two women in the morning and mixed doubles in the afternoon.
The Ladies Auxiliary will volunteer to serve breakfast and lunch, while local businesses have donated raffle prizes to help raise additional funds.
Antoszek said the tournament has grown steadily, with 10 teams already pre-registered and room for up to 18. Pre-registration ran until October 14, but walk-ins are welcome the day of the event. Registration begins at 9 a.m., with darts flying at 10 a.m.
“It’s a fun way to honour Mom’s legacy,” Antoszek said. “She loved darts, her Legion family, and supporting the community she cared so much about.”
