
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Simcoe man with second-degree murder following the discovery of a woman’s body in a residence on Head Street South last weekend.
Officers responded to the home shortly after 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 5, where they located a deceased woman later identified as 71-year-old Barbara Morgan of Simcoe. A postmortem examination confirmed that her death was the result of a homicide.
Following an investigation by the Norfolk County OPP Crime Unit and the Criminal Investigation Branch, 45-year-old Justin Morgan of Simcoe was arrested and charged with second-degree murder on Friday, October 10.
He remains in custody and was scheduled to appear in court over the weekend.
Police are also continuing to search for 49-year-old Robert Sykes, who is currently unaccounted for and was last seen in the same area on Saturday, October 4.
Sykes is described as a white male, about 5’10” tall, 120 lbs, with long dirty blond hair typically worn in a ponytail, a beard and goatee, and possibly wearing glasses.
Investigators say they are concerned for his well-being and are asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the Norfolk County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
The investigation continues in cooperation with the Office of the Chief Coroner, the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, and Forensic Identification Services.
