
A homicide investigation has been launched in Simcoe.
On Sunday morning, officers were called to a residence on Head Street South, where they located a deceased individual identified as 71-year-old Barbara Morgan.
A postmortem examination is scheduled for later today.
The investigation is being led by the Norfolk County OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, and in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service in Toronto.
Forensic Identification Services are also assisting at the scene, and police say residents can expect an increased police presence in the area.
Investigators believe this was an isolated incident and that there is no broader threat to public safety.
Police continue to monitor the situation and encourage residents to remain alert and report any suspicious activity.
