Things could be getting a little bit quieter in Norfolk County.
Waterford residents raised concerns recently, prompting the OPP Detachment Board to take action.
That was Chair Kim Huffman, who also serves as the community’s councillor.
She highlighted the issue, noting it is a frequent complaint among residents in her riding and an issue she can speak to first hand as well.
Police confirm they are aware of the problem and say that if a vehicle is heard being excessively loud, officers can pull it over and issue charges.
Vehicles with modifications, especially altered mufflers designed to increase noise, can face additional penalties.
At that recent board meeting, members a step further asking for more to be done to address the issue.
The motion was passed.
Officers will receive directives to pay special attention to these concerns, with a follow-up report expected.
Residents are encouraged to report ongoing issues to help the OPP identify repeat offenders.
