Norfolk County councillors have approved a significant pay increase for the next term of council in another narrow 5-4 vote.
Starting with the next term of council, the mayor’s salary will be tied to 75% of an Ontario MPP’s pay, rising to about $118,000.
Councillors’ salaries will be set at half that amount, or just over $59,000.
The issue was brought back on the table last night, with some councillors still wanting to see the pay increase lowered or see no increase at all – but those motions were ultimately defeated.
