
Norfolk County OPP charged a driver and passenger after a RIDE program stop in Simcoe early Monday morning.
On September 15, around 12:22 a.m., officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check on Norfolk Street North when they stopped a vehicle and assessed the driver for sobriety. Police determined the driver was operating the vehicle without insurance and with an invalid permit. A passenger tried to flee on foot but was quickly taken into custody.
The 35-year-old driver from Norfolk County is charged with operating a motor vehicle without insurance and driving without a currently validated permit. They will appear in Provincial Offences Court in Simcoe at a later date.
Also charged is 29-year-old Jacob Hoag of Norfolk County with obstructing a peace officer. He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe on October 21.
