A young Norfolk County resident is taking her passion for volunteering and running to new heights.
Bailey Pinkney, 22, has launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise $3,000.
The patient lift will help staff safely move patients when they arrive by ambulance.
Pinkney began volunteering at Norfolk General last fall, working in the hospital’s volunteer-run café. She said the experience showed her the vital role community support plays in keeping the hospital strong.
To raise the money, Pinkney is running her very first full marathon—the world-famous New York City Marathon on November 2. However, being a wildland firefighter in Alberta, leading a crew on the front lines of forest fires makes training tricky.
So far, she has raised over $1,200 toward her $3,000 goal. Pinkey said “It’s exciting to run for something bigger and give back.”
Donations can be made through her GoFundMe page.
