Concerns are being raised in Port Dover after new fencing appeared at the entrance to the pier.
Ward 6 Councillor Adam Veri clarified online that the barrier was put up as a safety measure by the Port Dover Harbour Authority.
The Authority, which manages the pier on behalf of the federal government, says the fence will only be used during times of heavy icing, high winds, or dangerous waves.
Otherwise, the pier remains open to the public.
