Your Money, Your Community featuring Lara Rockefeller.
Many people spent the summer doing many activities.
Whether is flying overseas, or a family trip out of town, those bills can easily add up over those two months.
We spoke with Lara Rockefeller, a Mortgage Specialist at Premiere Mortgage Centre, who suggests everyone consider doing a “Fall Reset.”
The first step is looking back at the past few months and figuring out just where all your money went.
She says we live in a “tap” world right now, so sometimes it can be easy for the finances to get away from us.
If you are struggling with that, she says going back to the basics can help.
She said part of the fall reset could be focusing on approving your credit score as well.
The best way to have a healthy credit score is paying your bills on time.
Even if you have it set to pay a minimum payment automatically, which you can pay more on after, just to be safe.
She also says be warry of how much you are putting on the credit card.
With that, she says having a credit card is must if you want to have that good credit score.
But think of it as that, something to boost your score, and not a bottomless pit to make large purchases.
She also urged couples out there with one credit card in a single person’s name to consider getting two.
It’s not uncommon for couples to have only one person with a credit card, which they both pay off, but only the person with the name on the card is benefitting.
The other person, meanwhile, is not showing any sign of credit movement – which can actually be worse.
She adds that December is approaching quickly, which can mean big expenses for many families.
A fall reset now can you help you save and plan ahead for that time of year.
