The Routes to Roots film festival is looking to ignite a passion for film making in our local youth.
We spoke with vice chair Jim Carroll about their new and exciting plan.
They are holding their first fundraiser soon, which we will talk about more tomorrow as a follow up “What’s Good Norfolk?” segment.
Once they begin getting that community support, Carroll shares his vision.
Carroll loves films, but notes where you look, you are likely seeing some form of video creation going on.
He wants kids to know that these skills can go a long way, even if being a big Hollywood director is not the end goal.
He looks at the multiple video platforms that exist now, and the different stories that can be told.
He notes there is a lot of filler or bad content out there, so why not push for our youth to make a positive impact?
You can read more about the first big fundraiser tomorrow as a follow up to this story.
