Canadian rock icons Trooper will headline the Sandpines Campfire Concert Series in Port Rowan on Saturday, August 30, capping off the last long weekend of the summer with a night of classic hits.
Formed in 1975 by singer Ra McGuire and guitarist Brian Smith, Trooper quickly rose to fame with songs like Raise a Little Hell, We’re Here for a Good Time (Not a Long Time), and The Boys in the Bright White Sports Car. Before becoming Trooper, the pair performed as Winter’s Green in the late 1960s and later as Applejack, before being signed by Randy Bachman of Bachman–Turner Overdrive. Trooper went on to tour across Canada and the U.S., cementing their reputation as one of Canada’s great live acts.
In 2023, Trooper was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and also honoured with a place on Canada’s Walk of Fame during the Rock of Fame event at Massey Hall in Toronto.
The Sandpines Campfire Concert Series, set along the inner bay with Long Point as a backdrop, has already welcomed April Wine and David Wilcox this summer. Both acts attracted large crowds and delivered spectacular live shows—especially for fans of classic Canadian rock.
The unique setting offers lawn-chair seating, food trucks, a beer garden, and a relaxed festival feel. Celebrate the long weekend with a truly Canadian experience.
