
Brant County OPP and emergency crews responded to a train derailment early Friday morning, July 25, 2025, in Paris, Ontario. The incident occurred around 6:00 a.m. on the rail line between Oak Park Road and Market Street.
While initial reports mentioned two railcars, it was later confirmed that approximately 24 cars and one locomotive had derailed. All cars remained upright, and there were no injuries, leaks, spills, or fires.
CN Railway, CN Police, and the County of Brant Fire Department are on-site managing cleanup and repairs. Thankfully, no rail crossings were blocked.
The cause of the derailment is under investigation. Officials urge the public to stay clear of the area while crews continue work.
Update: Via Rail traffic has halted in the surrounding area and there are significant service disruptions.
