Meadow Lynn Farms stands as a vibrant reminder of what it means to grow up on the land.
This multi-generational farm has been in operation since 1946, starting as a modest dairy farm with just a handful of Jersey cows.
Now, decades later, it’s home to a thriving herd, strawberry fields, vegetable gardens, and a family legacy four generations strong.
At the heart of that legacy is Thomas Judd, who carries forward the traditions and responsibilities passed down from his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Raised on the farm, Thomas grew up surrounded by cattle, crops, and the kind of life lessons you don’t find in textbooks—like learning that forgetting to close a barn door isn’t just a small mistake, it’s a major operation when cows decide to wander.
Each generation at Meadow Lynn has brought its own expertise to the table.
Where Thomas’s grandfather specialized in hay, his father was known for his mechanical skills.
Today, Thomas manages both cattle and hay operations, alongside his wife, who runs a vegetable box program.
His mother, known to many in the region as Norfolk County’s “Strawberry Queen,” still plays an important role during harvest season.
It’s a truly family-centered farm, where everyone pitches in and every task is rooted in tradition, even as the tools and technology evolve.
And evolve they have.
While the heart of farming remains the same—plant, nurture, harvest, repeat—the tools now include automated milking systems that sync with smartphones and drones that monitor crops from above.
This balance of old-fashioned hard work and modern efficiency allows farmers like Thomas to stay ahead of the curve, while still being able to tuck their kids in at night or host open houses for hundreds of visitors.
Speaking of visitors, Meadow Lynn Farms is also deeply committed to community education.
The Judd family regularly opens their barn doors to school groups, senior tours, and curious locals.
These events are an opportunity to show what goes on behind the scenes—how animals are cared for, how crops are grown, and how farms are adapting to new technology in real time.
