A 78-year-old Simcoe driver is facing serious charges after being caught stunt driving in Brant County.
Just before 5 p.m. yesterday (Monday, July 7), Brant County OPP stopped a vehicle on Pleasant Ridge Road near Colborne Street West. The driver was clocked going 125 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone — more than double the speed limit.
Police say the driver has been charged with:
Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive Speed
Speeding – 125 km/h in a 60 km/h Zone
As part of Ontario’s stunt driving laws, the driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days, and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.
The OPP reminds the public that high speeds can have deadly consequences. Stunt driving puts everyone on the road at risk, including pedestrians, cyclists, and other drivers.
Police continue to enforce speed limits to help keep all road users safe.
