Cheers of “Go Taylor, Go Taylor” filled the air this morning as Ontario Special Olympics athlete Taylor Bennett sprinted to victory against local OPP officers at the Todd Eaton Memorial Track. The friendly 100-metre dash brought together students from Lakewood School, community members, and police officers for a fun and inspiring event.
Bennett, who is preparing to compete in five events at the upcoming Special Olympics Provincial Games, left Constable Jeremy and his fellow officers in the dust, drawing big smiles from all involved. The officers, along with Bennett and her dad Mike, shared laughter and high-fives after the race.
The event supported the Law Enforcement Torch Run, which raises awareness and funds for Special Olympics athletes. Community members were encouraged to come out and cheer, adding to the lively atmosphere on this special morning in Port Dover.
