Invasion of the Dragons Returns to Waterford’s Shadow Lake this June
One of Norfolk County’s splashiest community events is back this weekend, and it promises a weekend full of fun, friendly competition, and fundraising.
The Invasion of the Dragons dragon boat festival will take place at Shadow Lake in downtown Waterford, right behind the Waterford Antique Market on Alice Street.
That was organizer Gail Catherwood.
Unlike competitive rowing events, this one is open to absolutely everyone – regardless of paddling ability. Teams of 20 paddlers (plus a drummer!)
It all started after Catherwood had a meal with a friend, who is a dragon boater, and she thought of Shadow Lake.
Over the years, the event continued to grow.
Catherwood said it was time to bring in more people to help.

There is still lots to do as you come and cheer on the teams.
What began as a small, spirited fundraiser has now become a community tradition.
