Founded in 2013 by Jamz Maher in memory of his mother, Susan Elaine Wallbank-Maher — a beloved local musician and fundraiser — SueFest has grown into a well-attended celebration. The festival has helped raise and donate over $30,000 for continued research by the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Maher explains that SueFest has become synonymous with family and love.
SueFest returns to Brantford on Saturday, June 21, for another day of live music, great food, and community spirit — all to support the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. The festival runs rain or shine at the Knights of Columbus, 12 Catharine Avenue, with gates opening at 3:30 p.m. and music starting at 4 p.m. The event wraps up at 10:30 p.m.
This year’s musical lineup promises to entertain, with returning favourites like Jack de Keyzer, who Maher says is a mainstay of the festival.
A name familiar to Norfolk County — Ryan Morrison and Friends from Port Dover — will also take the stage. Other acts include The Nerds, The Beatniks, and Jonny and Shari. Festival-goers can expect a mix of classic rock, folk, bluegrass, and more, showcasing both award-winning performers and fresh local talent.
Co-founder Aleta Berec pointed out that SueFest offers much more than just music.
She added that there will also be free fire truck tours from the Brantford Fire Department, a 50/50 draw, and more. After dark, the “Lights of Columbus” light display will add atmosphere to the evening.
Maher and Berec expressed gratitude to Streef Produce, DW Wilson Manufacturing, and Ewyn Weight Loss Studios for being the top supporters of Suefest 2025.
Tickets are available at suefest.ca or in person at the Knights of Columbus. Kids 12 and under get in free, parking is free, and don’t forget your lawn chairs. Organizers encourage everyone to attend: “Your support just may save a life.”
