Victim Services of Haldimand-Norfolk-Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation (HNMCFN) is celebrating 35 years of helping people in crisis tonight with a special invitation-only Awards Gala. The event will honour frontline volunteers, community champions, and new volunteers who recently completed a comprehensive crisis response training program.
The gala will also recognize two major funding partners: the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) and the New Horizons for Seniors Program. Their grants have played a key role in helping Victim Services expand support, reduce staff workload, and train new crisis responders.
“The OTF grant is about supporting our staff to continue to provide comprehensive services to our clients when the demand is increasing but the funding is finite,” said Sheri MacDonald, Executive Director. “Reducing administrative tasks through automation helps staff have more time with clients.”
The New Horizons grant focused on empowering seniors to take part in volunteer training, strengthening local capacity to respond to emergencies. “This is about creating meaningful opportunities for seniors while strengthening our community’s ability to respond to crisis,” added MacDonald.
The evening will feature entertainment, awards, and heartfelt recognition of those who provide support during life’s toughest moments.07
Victim Services HNMCFN says this event is more than a celebration— it’s a tribute to the everyday heroes who make our community stronger. The organization is proud to continue its mission with the help of committed volunteers and funders who believe in making a difference.
