Hagersville celebrated its 150th anniversary on June 6 with a vibrant return of Agriculture Day, welcomed by community members, local leaders, and MP Leslyn Lewis.
“I want to say how proud I am to represent a community that so powerfully reflects the values that built this country: hard work, resilience, and a deep connection to the land,” said MP Lewis during the opening ceremonies.
Established in 1875, Hagersville has long been a centre of farming, business, and rural community life in Haldimand County. The return of Ag Day, once a highlight in the 1980s and 1990s, marked a celebration of agricultural traditions.
“The return of Ag Day is a powerful testament to our local history and deep commitment to preserving our rural way of life,” Lewis added.
She also praised organizers Nancy Snyder and Lisa Mattice for leading a team of 100+ volunteers.
