Southwestern Public Health has issued a Boil Water Advisory for users of the Oxford South Municipal Water Supply, affecting Norwich, Otterville, and Springford. The advisory is precautionary following concerns that recent water samples may contain bacteria.
Dr. Ninh Tran, Medical Officer of Health, urges all residents to bring water to a rolling boil for at least one full minute before using it for drinking, brushing teeth, making ice, preparing infant formula or juice, and washing raw foods.
The advisory will remain in effect until further testing confirms the water is safe to use.
For more information, a Boil Water FAQ is available online. Residents with questions are encouraged to contact the Environmental Health Department at 1-800-922-0096.
Southwestern Public Health is working to ensure the safety of the water supply and will provide updates as results become available.
