Coming up this Sunday, June 8th, Norfolk County is invited to the first community-wide Worship and Prayer Event at the Simcoe Recreation Centre’s Dogwood Room, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Church Out Serving has organized this inclusive evening of worship, open to everyone regardless of church background or religious affiliation. Chair of Church Out Serving, Eric Haverkamp, shares more details on what to expect at the event.
The event is a perfect opportunity to come together in prayer for Norfolk County, while also acknowledging important local issues such as homelessness, budget pressures, and aging infrastructure. Attendees will be encouraged to offer prayers for local leaders, wisdom, and the health of neighbourhoods. Eric explains their vision of creating a welcoming space for worship that’s open to all.
Refreshments including coffee, tea, and snacks will be available to help create a relaxed, welcoming environment. There’s no pressure—just a chance to gather, reflect, and celebrate the community. Haverkamp expresses his hope that the event will spark greater positivity and inspire continued gatherings of this kind across Norfolk.
The event has already received strong support from the community and local churches. Backed by the Norfolk County Ministerial Association and other faith-based organizations, Church Out Serving has seen enthusiastic involvement from both religious and non-religious residents alike. Eric shares how much of this support stems from the trust and reputation Church Out Serving has built in Norfolk County.
This first-ever Worship and Prayer Event is more than just a gathering—it’s a reflection of Norfolk’s growing desire to come together in hope, unity, and mutual support. It’s an open invitation to anyone who cares about the well-being of the community, regardless of belief. Organizers hope this will be the beginning of an ongoing tradition that brings people together to lift up Norfolk County in prayer and purpose. Admission is free, and all are welcome to attend.
