The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has seized more than 11,400 illegal cannabis plants and 75 pounds of processed cannabis worth over $11.5 million during a recent bust in Norfolk County.
On April 24th, the OPP Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET) responded to a tip from Health Canada about a grow operation in St. Williams violating Cannabis Act regulations. With support from the OPP Emergency Response Team and Urban Search and Rescue unit, officers raided the site and uncovered 11,475 illegal cannabis plants alongside large quantities of dried cannabis.
The PJFCET is a joint task force including police services from Niagara, Durham, London, Windsor, and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. Its mission is to target illegal cannabis production and distribution.
The investigation remains ongoing and charges are expected if warranted.
Police urge anyone with information on illegal cannabis activity to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or ontariocrimestoppers.ca.
