Lynnwood Arts in Simcoe is hosting the opening of TEWANHOTÓNKWAS (We Open Doors) tonight at 7 p.m.—a moving and powerful exhibition showcasing the work of seven Indigenous artists from Six Nations and Norfolk County.
Running from May 15 to September 13, the exhibit highlights Indigenous creativity, storytelling, and identity. The goal is to open doors to greater understanding, cultural connection, and meaningful dialogue.
Featured artists include Michael Barber, Eric Martin, Lindsay Martin, Shayde Sandy, Savannah Skye-Smith, and Dallas Squire. Their works span a range of mediums including beading, carving, painting, and cultural games—each expressing personal stories, traditional knowledge, and reflections on history and resilience.
Admission is free and everyone is welcome to attend the opening event and view the exhibit over the summer.
We Open Doors offers an inspiring look into Indigenous perspectives through art, honouring identity, heritage, and the healing power of expression.
