Fanshawe College is cutting 400 full-time jobs—35 per cent of its workforce—in response to a projected $72 million deficit by 2027.
The job cuts follow federal limits on international student enrolment and provincial funding shortfalls, said college president Peter Devlin.
The London-based college, which also has campuses in Simcoe, Woodstock, and other regions, approved the cuts as part of its 2025-26 budget.
Devlin cited a consultant-led review highlighting declining enrolment, changes to post-graduate work permits, and labour market trends as factors driving the decision.
It is not known what impact this will have on our local campus at this time.
