A 49-year-old woman has died following a residential fire in Brantford that is now under criminal investigation by local police and the Office of the Fire Marshal.
Emergency services were called to a home on Buchanan Crescent on the morning of Monday, at approximately 7:45 a.m. Responding units from Brantford Police Service, Brantford Fire Department, and Brant County Paramedic Services found the home ablaze and quickly worked to extinguish the fire.
The woman, a resident of the home, was transported to hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.
Three other adults who were also inside the home at the time of the fire were transported to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police have not released the name of the deceased, and no charges have been laid as of publication.
However, the Brantford Police Service has confirmed that the fire is now being investigated as a criminal incident, with the Office of the Fire Marshal assisting in the investigation.
