This week, Canadians are being invited to take a closer look at what lies behind the smile, the small talk, and the brave faces we often wear.
It’s Canadian Mental Health Week, and we spoke with Lill Petrella, Team Lead for Mental Health Promotion with Canadian Mental Health Alliance of Brant Haldimand Norfolk about this year’s theme.
Petrella says that while many individuals struggle daily, they often feel pressured to “mask” their pain out of fear of judgment, stigma, or misunderstanding.
Having a week to bring it out in the open help break through some of these walls.
In Haldimand-Norfolk, there are some unique situations as well that CMHA works with.
Petrella said they make sure their wide array of services is available to anyone over the age of 16 who needs it in our area.
CMHA Brant Haldimand Norfolk is sharing resources all week to help individuals, schools, and workplaces start the conversation.
There are many events as well, that Petrella hopes people make the time to attend.
If you or someone you know is struggling, you are asked to contact CMHA Brant Haldimand Norfolk.
