The Grand River Conservation Foundation has launched an exciting new funding opportunity for elementary schools and community groups within the Grand River watershed. From now until May 9, groups can apply for support through the newly established Community Conservation Grants program.
Elementary schools looking to enhance their outdoor spaces with features like schoolyard gardens, natural learning areas, or pollinator habitats can receive grants of up to $750. Community groups working on environmental projects that also aim to bring people together—such as habitat restoration, community clean-ups, or sustainable building initiatives—are eligible for grants of up to $1,000.
This program is made possible thanks to two key funding sources:
- The Thiess Riverprize Endowment Fund, awarded to the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) in 2000 for excellence in watershed management.
- The Grand Champions Endowment Fund, which is supported by private donations dedicated to local environmental efforts.
Grant recipients will be notified in late May, so be sure to submit your application before the deadline.
