The Norfolk Pro Rodeo appears to be moving forward after a few issues were cleared up at Norfolk County Council that threatened to possible shut down the event.
Earlier this year, a complaint lead to county staff looking into the Timmerman’s Ranch and what was allowed on their property.
In doing so, it flagged the rodeo and series of now “required” reports and studies were handed over to Krista and Mike Timmerman’s to complete if they wanted the event to continue.
One of the frustrating parts was the fact that, every other year, the event was given the green light by Norfolk County and suddenly the rules changed.
Council expressed concern that the event, which is a big draw for the county, would be put in a financial pinch out of the blue.
Staff said there was some confusion about how to view the event on the property, but they were working with the Timmerman’s closely, and now believe they have a solution that eliminates a majority of the studies that were required.
County staff said this event could move forward this year if the Timmerman’s agreed to complete the studies post event.
