The Simcoe and District Humane Society looks forward to one day moving into a brand new building.
They have a location, and the bones of the structure, but President Cathie Hosken says they are stuck in catch 22 situation: they need money to get a shelter to better help the animals, but more animals keep coming in needing help tying up almost all donations that come in.
These past few months have been tricky as well as they have had to navigate a unique, and once again costly, situation.
The reason for the uptick of animals in their care, dog and otherwise, is a combination of just accidents and a many people tightening up their belt when it comes to expenses.
When it dogs specifically, Hosken says this is a staunch contrast to how things use to be just a few years ago.
