Delhi Raiders standout Carson McKie is taking the next step in his football journey, officially signing his commitment letter to the University of Guelph. The talented offensive lineman has been a key player for the Raiders and is now set to join a program known for developing top-tier talent. The Gryphons are coming off a successful season, ranking fifth in the country and finishing third in the OUA.
Guelph O-Line Coach Mike MacDonald was at the signing yesterday and praised McKie’s work ethic, intelligence, and size, saying he fits the mold of past Gryphon linemen who became All-Stars and even CFL pros. MacDonald believes this is an excellent time for McKie to become a Gryphon.
He added, “Carson is coachable, hardworking, and comes from a great family. We’re excited to have him.”
Raiders Head Coach Alex Zurby highlighted McKie’s leadership and impact on Delhi’s football program. “He’s been with us since Grade 9, and it’s been amazing to see his growth.” We asked Zurby what it was like to see a senior player take the next step.
McKie, was all smiles and clearly proud of his accomplishment. He is eager to learn from Guelph’s veteran linemen and to become apart of his new team.
He will study geography at school and added that he “can’t wait to get to work.”
