The Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) is gearing up for an exciting start to its second season, launching on Saturday November 30 with a 90-game schedule.
Each of the six teams will play 30 games this campaign, the first to feature both franchise names and logos.
The season opener at 2 p.m. will see the Toronto Sceptres host the Boston Fleet at Coca-Cola Coliseum.
Other matchups this weekend include the Ottawa Charge hosting the Montreal Victoire at 5 p.m. on Saturday and the New York Sirens facing the Minnesota Frost Sunday at 5 p.m.
Local players to look out for this year include Waterford’s Elaine Chuli, who became a trusted person between the pipes for Montreal last season. Chuli led the league in Goals Against Average with 1.61, also claiming top spot for Save Percentage with 0.949.
London’s Julia Gosling who looks to make her PWHL regular season debut when her Toronto Sceptres play Boston Saturday.
St. Thomas native Lexie Adzija, who tallied 11 points in 24 regular games last season, split her time between Ottawa and Boston. She contributed eight points in 17 games with Ottawa and added three more in seven games after her trade to Boston.
and Ella Shelton of Ingersoll returns for a second season with New York and will look to continue the impressive start to her professional career. Shelton recorded 21 points in the 24 game season, landing her 5th on the leagues points list and 4th for assists.
