Waterford District High School (WDHS) is inviting its future Grade 9 students, the “Incoming Wolves,” to learn about life at the school. The event, offers students and their families a chance to explore classrooms, see program demonstrations, and receive important information for Grade 9.
That was Lauren Neilson, guidance counsellor at WDHS. She added that senior students from the Link Crew will guide tours and share course details.
The school boasts diverse offerings, including 22 sports teams, from football to volleyball, and even specialized sports classes explains Principal Pamela O’halloran.
There’s lots for students that are maybe not sports-motivated as well. Waterford also has a great drama program, chess club, robotics club and active student council.
Students are now required to take a tech course to graduate. Neilson explains Waterford is very proud of the variety of programs they offer in this area.
Finally, Principal O’halloran has been an administrator in Brantford, Haldimand and Norfolk, but it’s the culture at WDHS that impresses her most.
She adds that it is a close-knit, small town school with dedicated staff and parents that ensure students feel welcome and set for success. Families are encouraged to attend and discover what makes Waterford unique for themselves.
