The City of Brantford invites the public to a special event celebrating the completion of the new A Star Over Brantford: A Tribute to Phil Hartman mural on Monday, November 4th, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The event will feature formal remarks outside the Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts, followed by entertainment from local comedian Graham Chittenden and light refreshments in the lobby.
The mural, created by DRIFT Mural Co., honours Brantford native Phil Hartman, a beloved actor, comedian, and graphic designer. It blends portraiture, nature, and historical references to highlight key moments from Hartman’s life and career, from his early days in Brantford to his iconic roles on Saturday Night Live and The Simpsons.
Brantford Mayor Kevin Davis expressed pride in the project, stating, “Public art benefits our city in numerous ways, fostering civic pride, a sense of place, and deep community connections. The Phil Hartman mural celebrates the remarkable achievements of one of our most famous residents.”
The mural is now on display on the east wall of the Sanderson Centre, with exterior lighting to be added soon.
